Edgar Escalante

My name is Edgar Escalante and I am the owner and head instructor at Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater. I have been training, studying and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 8 yrs. I received my blue belt from Master Renato Tavares and my purple belt from Professor Christian Derr. I am currently training under Professor Travis Tooke. I have also fought in amateur MMA competition in Kansas and Oklahoma going 4-0. When I am not competing I am teaching the Gentle Art at the first pure Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School in the Stillwater, Ok. Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater.

My teaching style is very hands on and detail oriented with a strong emphasis on concepts, leverage and conditioning. The classes are structured to challenge the individual both mentally and physically so as the student can learn to over come challenges.

I am constantly traveling to experience the different philosophies and training methods of many top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructors/competitors, so that I may be able to further understand the art. This allows me to pass on my knowledge to my students in a safe and encouraging training environment.
