Edgar Escalante

My name is Edgar Escalante and I am the owner and head instructor at Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater. I have been training, studying and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 15 yrs. On December 16, 2023, I was awarded the rank of Black Belt and Professor under Professor Travis Tooke. I have also fought in amateur MMA competition in Kansas and Oklahoma. I am currently competing in Professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for organizations such as Fight to Win Pro and Battle my Crew. When I am not competing, I am teaching the Gentle Art at the first pure Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School in Stillwater, OK, Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater.

My teaching style is very hands on and detail oriented with a strong emphasis on concepts, leverage and conditioning. The classes are structured to challenge the individual both mentally and physically so as the student can learn to over come challenges.

I am constantly traveling to experience the different philosophies and training methods of many top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructors/competitors, so that I may be able to further understand the art. This allows me to pass on my knowledge to my students in a safe and encouraging training environment.
